Server outage

Unfortunately a bunch of things have gone wrong last weekend, beginning with a failed attempt to renew the LetsEncrypt certificates.

I had already started to set up a new, faster machine anyway, but getting that ready to fully replace the old one didn’t work out that well either yet.

Secondary services, like this blog, are working now, but the web frontend to the MapOSMatic instance is still playing tricks on me, with each page request taking almost exactly 1 minute 52 seconds.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get things running again by tomorrow before leaving for FOSDEM.

PS: there was no data loss, the rendered results for all map requets filed since christmas are still available and can be retrieved if you are patiend enough.

Surveillance overlay updates

I’ve finally shown the surveillance overlay some love again, the render style should now be up to date with the original Surveillance under Surveillance online map style.

Changes include:

  • correctly calculate camera viewing ranges independent of zoom level
  • support for new camera symbols for fixed and panning cameras
  • some code cleanups

Some database lag again …

Update: everything is back to normal again, all caught up

Due to database maintenance work regular diff imports to the main OSM database are currently disabled, the current database state is that of July 5th noon (CEST).

The WayMarkedTrails route database is still getting its regular updates, but is currently falling behind a little bit (currently around 7-8 hours) due to the higher disk load during maintenance.

Rendering of maps is still possible, just don’t expect map data changed after Jul 5th noon to be taken into account for the next few days …
